The Dutchman Bauke Mollema wins Clasica San Sebastian 2016
As always, a week after the Tour de France takes place the Clasica San Sebastian, a race which this time was also used to measure the forces facing the road test Rio 2016. And one of the conclusions that can be draw is that Bauke Mollema, despite giving up the podium of the Tour in the later stages, is strong and is the big bet of the Netherlands for the Olympics.
His good time has proved by winning the Clasica San Sebastian, triumph becomes one of the best of their record at age 29. Mollema won the finish line with a slight difference of five seconds over Frenchman Tony Gallopin, about Alejandro Valverde, who adds his fourth podium in this race, and Joaquim Rodriguez.
Precisely Itching was one of the most animated the race, adding to attack Adam Yates, the winner last year, on the last climb of the route. The Spanish managed to outrun the British, but during the remainder way to the top was joined behind Mollema, Gallopin and Valverde. The quartet crowned with enough advantage to know that there went out the winner.
Mollema attacked the very start of the descent and pulled slice of the lack of understanding between Valverde and Rodriguez, nothing new story in the bunch. Thus, the Dutch could sneak into the beautiful finish line alone and get an important victory that will, among other things, to point out even more as favorite to victory in Brazilian lands.
