ATP Stuttgart 2015: Rafael Nadal captures third crown against Troicki
The Spaniard Rafael Nadal won his title Sunday 66 as a professional in the ATP tour, the second of the season and the third Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart by winning with authority Serbian Viktor Troicki in straight sets.
Rafa coming from a painful elimination in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros against Novak Djokovic, has played in high level especially with the service this week on German soil obtaining several aces that is not their specialty which will serve him in his confidence the objective which seek a third Wimbledon crown.
For the former world number one, today ranked 10th in the rankings this win means an injection of important moral, as for his achievements have only won one tournament until this time of year it was more than enough and worrying. The Spaniard will hunting points that do rise quickly through the ranks and be able to tempt a better seeding for Wimbledon and avoid more senior rivals in early rounds.
Today against Troicki, his service worked very well. Only he struggled in the opening stages of the first set where he had to save a ball ‘break’. Hence his walk was sober, connecting 8 aces and sending when there was need for exchanges. Troicki managed to get their games only when the serve was with him since when more than two or three balls were played in the rallies, it was clear that Rafael Nadal showed its superiority. It showed in the tiebreaker. Rafa gets a minibreak soon after but lose their constancy in returning forcing Troicki to play a ball more, would make the advantage. Serbian collaborated with a double fault that would be fatal because Rafa no mistake and ended 7-6 (3).
The influx was favorable for the Spaniard who started all the second set by breaking in the fourth ‘game’. Lead 4-1 and without giving options to serve – the key all week – Rafael Nadal walked toward the final triumph by winning 6-3 but not before having to be used to overcome the final resistance that was put Troicki 40-40 after being 15 -40.
