Robert Sarver, the new owner of RCD Mallorca
The RCD Mallorca is an unusual club. A regular sports instability, which is more or less common in all clubs, Balearic joins a foreign institutional instability, as the club has changed hands on numerous occasions in recent years.
The last was nothing more start this year 2016, when the institution has landed on Robert Sarver. With a capital of about 20 million euro, the American millionaire now controls 77% of the shares of the company, the 22% which is the owner since it was barely a year, Utz Claessen.
The arrival of this American, who has embarked on this project along with former tennis player Andy Kohlberg and former basketball player Steve Nash, has sparked some optimism among the crazy fans. Sarver is not anyone in business or a novice in sports; it has control of the two basketball franchises Phoenix, the Suns in the NBA and WNBA Mercury.
Sarver has long been trying to land in European football. He was unsuccessful when attempting to win the Glasgow Rangers; neither could take control a Spanish team, Getafe. In the end, was the Mallorca which has opened the doors that say it is one of his great passions sports, football?
Of controversial nature, little or nothing is known for sure that the project will start in Mallorca, except the good news that always comes with this type of arrivals. You know, the usual: new players, new coaches, names posh to carry out the project (they have played since McManaman and Del Piero) and the goal of returning to the first division as soon as possible and turn to Mallorca in an important club.
Over time we will see how this project takes. In Spain the adventures of this type in a few (if not any) times have gone well, but getting into the skin of experienced amateur vermilion, is inevitable illusions a little and think a new era begins.
